The Crash: A Journey of Resilience
My story doesn't begin in a boardroom or a high-tech lab. It begins in Molo, a small town where path forward was rarely paved for us. Growing up without guidance, I drifted. I lost focus and, for a while, I lost myself.
With my physical mobility stripped away and my academic results falling short of my hopes, I reached a dead end. Physically unable to perform manual work, I realized I had to rebuild my life from a screen. With only a phone and a basic computer, I began teaching myself the digital skills that would eventually become my career. I wasn't just learning code; I was architecting a way out.
Reset: The Turning Point
But life had other plans. When everything fell apart, I discovered something more powerful than any setback: the power to rebuild. With manual labor no longer an option, I had a choice: stay stuck or pivot. I chose technology. With nothing but a phone and a basic computer, I started teaching myself design and code during the long nights of my recovery. What began as a survival tactic—an escape to channel my pain into something creative—slowly became my purpose. Day by day, I learned, practiced, failed, and tried again. I wasn't just building websites; I was rebuilding myself where I learned that your greatest challenges can be engineered into your greatest victories.
From Hunger to Structure
Transformation rarely happens in isolation. During a season of recovery and uncertainty, I met Boniface Gathendi, founder of Elon Designs and Sasalearn. While I had plenty of hunger, I lacked clear direction; Gathendi saw a professional in me where I only saw a setback. He did more than teach me technical skills—he challenged my mindset and saw the architect in me before I could even see it. This mentorship provided the professional structure my ambition needed, shifting my focus from survival to leadership. It was through Sasalearn that I turned my raw curiosity into mastery, learning to build systems I once only observed. This guidance didn't just give me a career; it provided the technical and strategic blueprint for my current path as a CTO.
Paying it Forward
My journey taught me one core truth: people rise when someone believes in them. The same mentorship that saved me is the same mentorship I provide today. Through SasaLearn, I now mentor the next generation through the Academy—the very place where I first learned to build.
In the academy, we guide young creatives who come from backgrounds similar to mine. We help them find the direction and confidence they need to walk their own path. Every student we mentor carries the same understanding: setbacks are not endings—they are just systems waiting to be rebuilt.
